No, it is not hard to sew. I have made a couple churidars, of cotton mostly but also of crepe-backed satin which looks more dressy. I have made the ankle with snap fasteners but have also sewn them closed so they just slip on over the feet. Because churidar are close-fitting, accurate measurements are important. Good luck!

Thank you K.A.!
I can't believe I haven't seen before that #135 contains a pattern for churidar. When I've looked at it, I have always focused on the oversized kurta, and totally neglected that the pant was in fact a churidar and not a salwar.
Did you try to sew the churidar yet? Easy or tricky?

The only pattern I've ever seen is an old one put out by Folkwear. Its called Jewels of India #135. I got mine off eBay a few years ago. Even with a pattern, you will still have to alter all the dimensions to reflect your measurements so the end result fits properly which is key to the look. Churidar are made on the bias of the fabric so there is a bit of stretch even though they are close-fitting. Depending on your size, you will need between 2 and 2.5 yards of 45" wide fabric. Good luck!
